~peace on earth begins with birth~
The Birth Doula Training Workshop is a doorway into a deeply rewarding field of work. Taught by a midwife who has worked as a doula for over ten years, it covers all the essential teachable skills needed to launch your practice. Four inspiring days of instruction, lecture, case studies, role play, multi-media presentation, discussion, reflection and lots of hands-on practice will give you the tools you need to begin this powerful work with birthing women and families.

Michelle- It has been a pleasure and an honor to learn from you. So open. This space that you have helped birth has felt safe, comfortable, and natural- flowing with our thoughts and stories and needs. Thank you! As much as there is a lifetime of learning ahead on this path, I feel that this time together has prepared me to step out onto it. Many thanks, many blessings, -Mira
Doulas, also known as "professional childbirth support," work in cooperation with doctors and midwives to enhance the birthing experience. The role of the doula is not a medical one; it encompasses the more personal aspects of birth. Numerous studies have shown that the presence of a trained doula at birth has remarkable results, including:
-  50% fewer cesearean sections
-  60% fewer requests for epidural anesthesia
-   50% fewer instrumental deliveries (forceps, vacuum)
- 40% reduction in the use of Pitocin (an artificial hormone)
- First time moms' labor averages two hours less
-Mothers and babies bond better
-Mothers and fathers/partners bond better
- More successful breastfeeding

Doulas enrich the experience of birth for mothers, babies, fathers/partners, and families. Birthing women have traditionally relied upon the deep wisdom and expert care of their sisters, mothers, and grandmothers. Today's doula brings to the expectant mother gifts of encouragement, information, active support, and a profound faith in the process.

Birth is gentler, safer, and more satisfying with a doula's care.
